Last weekend in the Casa de Cultura of Alfaz del Pí, MEMBA Prizes 2017 took place and
awards given in recognition of talent, excellence in business, creativity and innovation for the business women of the community. The event was organized by the Association for Business Women of the Marina Baixa (MEMBA), with the support of the councillorship for Equality, Commerce and Development of Alfaz del Pí.
The Mayor of Alfaz, Vicente Arqués, and his counterpart for Benidorm, Toni Pérez were present at the gala, where five prizes were given out: Young Business Woman to Lucía San Román, Excellence in Business to Sharon Nilsson; Creativity and Innovation to Crina Gravila; Career Path to Amparo Díaz Lopez, and the last prize for Social Responsibility to the recently created association “Mujeres con Voz” (“Women with a Voice”), dedicated to victims of domestic violence.
The MEMBA Prizes are a public recognition to career paths, service and knowledge of local commerce and business. In total, 2,000 euros were awarded between the five prizes. The aim of the awards ceremony is to honour those business women and entrepreneurs, whether for their career path, excellence in their area, for their innovation and positioning within the market place, thus serving as an example for other establishments.
This was the first awards ceremony of its kind, and the idea is to repeat it on a regular basis. Many people turned up to witness the awards, including town councillors from the surrounding towns, business owners, and the board members of MEMBA, headed by Berenice Laporta, President of MEMBA.
